Calderwood Coffee was an initiative set up to raise vital funds to help us tackle homelessness. With every purchase and every conversation sparked around Calderwood Coffee, you actively help us bring someone in from the cold and guide them towards a better future. You can now buy our coffee online and we offer free click and collect for local residents.
Without the support of those we work with locally we wouldn’t be able to help those most in need in West Cumbria.
By purchasing our own branded coffee, your support helps us keep the doors of our hostel open, providing shelter, warmth, and care for those who need it the most. With every purchase and every conversation sparked around Calderwood Coffee, you actively help us bring someone in from the cold and guide them towards a better future.
Within Calderwood House we have our very own professional barista machine. Here residents, staff and volunteers are able to learn the art of being a coffee barista. Following the opening of Calderwood House in 2015, we worked with Rins Coffee of Kendal Cumbria to create our very own unique blend of Coffee. Calderwood House Coffee was born!
In 2017 Calderwood House received a grant via the Cumbria Community Foundation Fresh Ideas Fund to purchase our own coffee van. Residents were able to learn new skills and build confidence whilst supporting Calderwood House to bring in funds through our coffee sales. Sadly, when COVID-19 hit our beloved van was stood empty and costing us money to keep it off the road. We made the difficult decision to sell the van.
We are now looking forward to bringing the sales of our coffee back to the streets of Egremont and Whitehaven in the near future; Look out for our upcoming market stall! We also have a community coffee morning on the 1st Saturday of every month where you will find a warm welcome to Calderwood House and an opportunity to try our very own Calderwood House Blend.
Launching Calderwood Coffee has helped us to bring our local community together. Not only are we teaching our Calderwood House residents important skills, but we are equipping them with the confidence to speak to customers, learn a new trade and operate a small business. The community has benefitted by catching a glimpse into the lives of those we help which in turns shows them how their support has the power to change lives. Selling our coffee raises vital funds for Time to Change which all go directly back into caring for those who need help the most in West Cumbria.
Time to Change wouldn’t be able to do half the things we do without the support and backing of our local communities. The generosity of individuals, community groups and businesses in West Cumbria has enabled us to continue to grow our Calderwood House project as well as numerous other initiatives that support those in need. To be able to continue caring for people who need it most, we rely on your continued support and generosity.
There are many ways you can get involved and help keep Time to Change moving forward. From a one-off donation to regular donations by direct debit, legacy gifts or corporate fundraising for us, every penny donated goes straight back into our projects, helping to provide life-saving support for many. Other ways you can contribute include taking action and joining our cause and volunteering for us. We rely on volunteers, in addition to residents, to help run Calderwood House, to sell our fundraising coffee and candles and to spread the word at events. Other projects such as the McKenzie Friend Support Service wouldn’t be possible without the time given by volunteers. Help us continue to do what we do best by joining our mission for change.
Time to Change West Cumbria is a community interest company (CIC) that strives to abolish homelessness in West Cumbria and supports those marginalised in our local communities.
